He enjoyed auto mechanics and the welding classes he took in high school. He enlisted in the Navy and graduated from basic training.
Martin was born in Kimberly, Idaho, on April 28, 1934, in his Grandmother Chapin’s house.
His parents moved to Twin Falls when Martin was about 2 years old, When Martin was about 5 years old (1939) he went with his family to Red Fish Lake in the Sawtooth Mountains to camp beside the lake in tents.
His mother knew he was impressed with this girl, because after he met Barbara he would leave school at lunch, go home and re-iron his pants, then go back to school!
He proposed to her in 1953 down by Shoshone Falls, and they married on March 7th of that year.
Martin worked at Van Gas (later Suburban Propane) for 12 years as a serviceman, 20 years as a manager, and four years as a regional manager, retiring in 1993.
His favorite pastime in his younger years was fly fishing with family and friends, with a dog at his side.
While he lived at Bridgeview Estates, he spent a lot of time entertaining (and teasing) the other residents and always had his harmonica in his pocket so he could play at a moment’s notice.
He married Winona Stocking in the Logan Utah LDS Temple on April 11, 1939. Rasmussen of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Maureen (Howard) Wallace of Middleton, Idaho.
Harold will be remembered for his love of children, ALL children.
